Today in class we spoke about internalizing other people's moods. It is easy to do, if someone is very happy, very upset or very angry it can seem contagious. My classmates and I noticed it today at lunch when the man behind the grill station had a very sour attitude, everyone who ordered there almost instantly "caught" this mood. The only trouble is that this is just a stranger, think about people we care about. This I also encountered today. I don't know why this person was acting differently but after our exchange I came away with a different mood.
Being optimistic and filling your life with happy people can make all the difference. Though it is true no one is happy all the time. It can be hard to not internalize what another person is feeling but understanding can help. Understanding where a person is coming from brings clarity.
Well anyway I'm done trying to analyze people, I'll leave that for when I become a true social worker :)
p.s. On a different note I would like to congratulate a lot of people for awesome feats that have been happening recently! First I would like to send a congrats to all of those students in my social work major who have found their awesome internships for next year (we are one step closer to obtaining our goals!), congrats to everyone who has been chosen to be an RA and congrats to those who got RHA executive board positions today! I love the accomplishment!

the little things in life
I dare you to watch this video and not smile:
I wish simple things in life like ripping paper made me this happy. I think we can all learn a thing or two from this baby, like life is taken way too seriously. If we all took the time to laugh at a little bit of ripped paper here and there the world would be a much happier place. I know next time I'm upset or stressing about something I will think of this video!
ps. another great thing about this video is the description "8-month-old boy laughing hysterically while at-home daddy rips up a job rejection letter. It was so much fun that he moved on to credit card solicitations."
have a great day everyone! <3

Questions
Questions, we've all got them. I have recently, more than ever, had the desire to ask everyone questions just of of curiosity. For example if I pass someone that looks extra upset I am very curious why. Or another example would be when I'm eating lunch in the hospital cafeteria (my classes are in the adjoining building) I see some doctors or medical students in white jackets eating by themselves (some are pretty cute too :P ). I would love to walk up to them and ask why they wanted to be a doctor? How long did it take to get to where you are? what is an average day like working in a hospital?
And then there are questions I always want to ask my acquaintances and friends. Things like: How are you really feeling today? What are your dreams? Do you feel you will accomplish them? what did you mean by that comment the other day? what's going on in your head? Are you a boxers or briefs guy? do you believe in soul mates? what were you like as a kid? who was your idol? who is your role model now? how do you see yourself? how do you see me? what are your fears? what do you regret? what do you like most about yourself? .....
Of course I don't always feel this inquisitive. In fact sometimes I'd rather just be left alone. There are those times, however, when you "peoplewatch" and wonder what truly is someone's story. To be fair, if you ever feel this way and would like to ask me a question here is my form spring:
Last time I used it it seemed kind of dumb but I'm willing to try it again. These thoughts seem to be extra random so I hope you like :)

what's in a name?
Chloe is not an abnormal name, it is the number 9 most popular female baby names in the United States and there is even a clothing brand named Chloe. But, between the nicknames I have and the many incorrect ways to spell and say my name I feel like it can be surprising when someone actually calls me Chloe.
When I was born My grandmother called me Cleo for the first two years of my life. This of course is followed by many teachers pronouncing my name as CH-lo. The occasional teacher would just give up and call me by my last name. The worst pronunciation I've heard was Cho-lo. But pronunciation is one thing spelling is something entirely different. I have my name spelled Chole possibly more times than it is spelled correctly. So that led to many of my friends calling me Cho-lay ( you know who you are :P)
But all I have spoken about so far has been my real name I also have more nicknames than I can count. As a kid my Dad called me cupcake and now my family calls me "cooie". In high school a friend couldn't pronounce my name and proceeded to call me cloud. Now in college my name has taken on so many transformations. It was of course first Chloe, then Hoe-y (this was a bad joke btw), then one day it was snowing so it turned into snowy, then snowball. Now sometimes its just ball, sometimes Cloball, sometimes bball, sometimes beebs. I would like to take my dear friends Saida and Jay for most of those nicknames.
Most recently professor for my LDR 410 class let me know that clo means toilet (or bathroom I can't remember) in german so now my blog can be called the toiletball effect
I really do like the name Chloe don't get me wrong, but it can be a lot more trouble than people expect!
P.s. This blog post is much more random and longer than I expected
p.p.s should I actually swich to tumblr?

Illness has taken its toll
Bleh, I've been sick for a few days now and it stinks. As a campus tour guide I had to give 2 tours today and I felt like I was going to pass out from the start. When I got to the administration building to start my tours I told the receptionist (that has always reminded me of my grandmother) that I was feeling very sick. She then proceeded to have me step away and lysol the spot I was standing in as well as the whole desk in front of her. It great to feel like you are a biohazard!
Ugh, we've all been there, sick not wanting to get out of bed but pushing yourself anyway just because of your "responsibilities". I remember when I used to get excited to be sick because that meant I got to miss school and have mom take care of me all day. The extra TV time and sleep was fantastic. Too bad I have to be an "adult" now and only miss work or class if I am truly bed ridden.
if only germs were this cute:
then maybe I wouldn't mind being sick :P
P.S. so this is my attempt at a blog post, how am I doing so far? :)

Blogging?
Hi everyone (if people are actually reading),
What is a blog? hmmm I'm not sure but I'm going to take a crack at making one anyway. I always used to think of it as an boring online diary but my friend Panthea has inspired me with her awesome blog "I happen to think I'm Hilarious" to attempt and achieve such awesomeness as well. I expect this blog to be random, amusing and well random. On that note here is a picture of my cat hugging a shoe:
